Click the Join button on the upper right side of our home page and provide your contact information. Please review our Privacy Policy to better understand how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your personal information. Your privacy is important to us. You will not be solicited as a result of participation in our studies. You can participate when it is convenient for you and choose to be removed from our testing program at any time.
For the majority of our studies, we accept people between the ages of 18 and over who are in the SF Bay Area.

We appreciate everyone who signs up to join our testing program. Participation in research studies depends on a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to demographic information, shopping behavior, and product usage. Therefore, not all who sign up will be able to participate in many studies. Just receiving an email or a call regarding a study does not guarantee participation in the study.
After you join the CLC, you will receive emails and/or texts notifying you when there is a survey for an upcoming study. Sometimes we might contact you in a different manner, including by telephone to conduct a short phone survey to see if you qualify for a study.
We do a variety of market research activities:

On-site Product Study: These occur at Consumer Learning Center (the CLC). The length of each study varies, but they are typically 30 minutes to an hour in length and can be on a variety of food and household products. Your specific time to participate and study activities will be outlined if you qualify.

Home Use Study: These occur at your home but you pick up the product(s) at the CLC, and use them at home in your typical routine. After using the product for a specified time, you will complete an evaluaton of the product(s) either on-line or back at the CLC.

Focus Groups and Interviews: These are small group discussions or one on one interviews that are held at the CLC and typically for an hour to two hours. Again you will be provided a specific time to participate and applicable study details. Sometimes you may participate in a study that you pick up a product to use in your home for a specified time and then return to talk about it.

Additional types of studies include shop-alongs and home studies where a team of researchers will join you as you shop or do a household activity in your home.
No catch! By participating in market research activities at the CLC, you can earn e-giftcards or raise money for your favorite non-profit.
You are typically eligible to participate 3-4 times per year.
For participating in our studies, you can choose to receive an e-giftcard or a donation to your favorite non-profit organization on your behalf. The amount of the incentive will vary by study, but will never be less than $50.
If you have not received any emails from info@theclc.com it is possible that your email provider has flagged mail from the CLC as Spam. Please be sure to check your spam filter when you first register with us. To ensure you receive our emails, add info@theclc.com to your address book.
If you cannot make your scheduled study, there are three ways to cancel:

  • Log into your “MyCLC” and cancel on-line at least 24 hours before the study.

  • Email Info@the clc.com

  • Call us direct at 925.737.7900

If you don’t cancel and don’t come, you will be considered a no-show. You will be allowed only three no-shows before you are designated as “not eligible” for testing.
If you are running late, please call us at 925.737.7900. If you are late, there is a good chance that we cannot use you for that study and you will not receive an e-giftcard.
The CLC is always looking for new faces! You can refer your friends or family members to the CLC through your MyCLC site. Login to MyCLC and use the referral page. An email will be sent from the CLC with all the information they need to join.
